About the Program

Master of Engineering (MEng) in Engineering Management – Cornell University

The Master of Engineering in Engineering Management at Cornell University is a highly ranked MEng program designed for engineers from all disciplines. The program integrates advanced technical analysis with managerial decision making, preparing engineers for leadership roles in technology driven organizations.

The MEng degree at Cornell originated in the mid 1960s during the transition from five year engineering degrees to four year undergraduate programs. It was developed as a professional alternative to the Master of Science degree, with a stronger focus on applied practice and completion within a shorter time frame. This structure provided the foundation for the Engineering Management program.

The MEng is a professional degree aimed at strengthening advanced engineering capabilities along with teamwork, leadership, and communication skills. Cornell’s College of Engineering offers MEng degrees across 15 fields, allowing flexibility to include coursework from other scientific and technical disciplines.

When combined with an MBA, the MEng degree helps engineers progress from technical and product development roles into senior engineering management and broader business leadership positions.
